A few weekends ago, my children and I attended a FABULOUS, TASTY event! We attended The Chocolate Expo at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Berlin, NJ. Luckily for you this amazing event travels to multiple locations and I promise it won’t disappoint.
I can’t say enough about this event. Before going, we were expecting rows and rows of chocolate, that wasn’t the case, but that didn’t really matter. What it did provide us with was rows and rows of deliciousness and some other items too.
Being a little older I was excited to meet some actors from the original cast of Willy Wonka. Yes, my children were a little upset it wasn’t some of the cast from the new Wonka movie, but they got over it once they started putting some goodies in their mouths. My youngest loved the kiddie area that allowed kids to get their face painted, get balloon animals and more.
Even though I could go on and on about a lot of the great vendors, I want to share some of our top favorites. If you happen to go to a Chocolate Expo and its chocolate you are looking for, but not just your basic chocolate bar, you HAVE to check out Bacon Bits. There is bacon EVERYTHING!!! Since we went on the last day of the expo (which I don’t recommend because some vendors ran out of a lot of their items) we didn’t have too much to pick from. Thankfully we were able to grab a candy bar with chunks of bacon in it. And OMG it was the best candy bar EVER!!
If you are not a chocolate nut, you should try Cows Around The Corner. This company has some of the best cheese spreads you will ever have. Thankfully. This table like many others give out free samples of their items for you to try. You should probably try a few of the flavors so you can be sure which one(s) you like the best.
Perhaps the cutest item we found at the expo was from Jamm Cake Pops, who sold the cutest Oompa Loompa and golden ticket cake pops. I’m pretty sure the pops were gone before we got to the next booth.
If you're really just not into food, you can also shop some of the home items. I made sure to pick up a candle from Mugxury Candles. They had a variety of candles to choose from with smells from hot cocoa and fruit loops. They are defiantly different than any candle you will find in the store, but perhaps what I like most about them is that they are home made.
Bottom line is... if you are looking for something fun and not too expensive to do, you should check out the Chocolate Expo and fill your belly with some yummy treats.
